Our final school Christmas celebration took place this week with our Key Stage 2 Advent Carol Service held in Ss Alban & Stephen Catholic Church. Readers from each class retold the story of the birth of Jesus, and we gradually built up the crib scene at the front, adding figures from the Nativity. The congregation and children sang a range of traditional and modern carols, ending with a rousing rendition of ‘Joy to the World’.
Fr Michael led our service and in his homily, reminded us that wherever the members of our school community travel this Christmas- whether it is to somewhere in the U.K. or to France, Hungary or even as far away as Nigeria- God will be with us at the heart of Christmas.
Thank you to Fr Michael, to Mrs Flatt our music specialist for rehearsing and leading the singing and choir, and to all the children who took part so reverently and joyfully.
As one parent said afterwards, it was a moment of real peace and joy in all the rush and bustle of Christmas.
