We have had a very busy start to the summer term. We have been focusing on books such as ‘the very hungry caterpillar’ where we went on a bug hunt, looking for worms, caterpillars and slugs. There are lots in our garden. We also looked at the life cycle of a caterpillar. We looked at the story of ‘The ginger bread man’ and explored different endings, some where the gingerbread man was eaten and others where he would escape. We tasted gingerbread men, some children enjoyed them and others did not. This week we focused on the story of ‘Goldilocks and the 3 bears’. In this story we discussed different sizes, and picked out the biggest and the smallest hair. Some children were able to order many objects in order of size.
In phonics we have begun writing the letters and finding words that start with the initial sound. This has been very successful and they are really enjoying it.
In RE, we have been learning about Jesus rising from the dead and about Gods gift of the Holy Spirit. We discussed the disciples and the gift of different languages. We also gave thanks to our mothers in the name of the Holy mother Mary.
