This week, the children were very excited as Goldilocks and The Three Bears came to visit SSAS! We all had a go at feeling the porridge at the different stages (dry oats, wet oats, porridge). The children came up with some fantastic descriptive vocabulary to describe it’s texture, such as gooey, sticky, dry, crumbly, wet and so on! We then tasted some of Baby Bears, Mummy Bears and Daddy Bears porridge, to see which one was our favourite. Some children preferred Daddy Bears porridge, which was plain. Lots of children preferred Mummy Bears porridge, which was sprinkled with sugar. However, the majority of children LOVED the Baby Bears porridge, which was mixed with some delicious honey!! We discussed the scientific process of how porridge changes state and what we need to do/add in order for these changes to occur.
Also this week, we have been applying our fantastic phonics to help us write a speech bubble for the characters of Goldilocks and The Three Bears! The children have come up with some very unique and creative feelings and thoughts that the different characters may be expressing in the story.
The children have continued their enthusiasm for castles this week and worked together as an amazing team to build their own castle using the outdoor construction materials. Some children were creating turrets and drawbridges using crates and planks, whilst other children were designing the castle on a clipboard. We even had some kings and queen sitting on their thrones!
