This week was also ‘Road Safety Week’ and the children have been learning all about road safety and how to safely cross the road with an adult. They watched a short video and then practiced showing us how they fasten their seatbelt when they get into the car. They also learned the meaning of the different colours of the traffic lights and some children painted their own during CIL time.
The children are still busy learning about our Topic this term ‘Night and Day’. We have been reading the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and the children have enjoyed it so much that we decided to create our very own Bear Cave. The children have been adding lots of other nocturnal animals to the cave and using the torches to see in the dark! They have also been busy creating a display for the story and painting the ‘Swishy Swashy’ grass and the ‘thick oozy mud!
This week we started a new topic in our Religious Education lessons; Birthdays and looking forward to celebrating a very special birthday, Jesus’ birthday! We have been looking at all our past birthday pictures on tapestry and the children having been telling each other all about it during Show and Tell! Advent is a time to prepare and this topic is so relevant to us all in Nursery as we are also starting to prepare for our Nativity Production! The Nursery class are very lucky to be joining the Reception class in singing some songs for the production!
Next Friday 26th November is when Ark Farm will be with us all day, sharing many of the creatures that actually feature in the Nativity. The children all have an allocated slot with the animals in which they will learn how to care for them and will be able to pet them, if they wish. We shall also be using this opportunity to film the children singing some of the Nativity songs. So please remember to send in your child/ren’s Christmas Jumper by Friday, in a named carrier bag.
We have had so much fun today dressed in spots and stripes. Thank you for all your contributions which has been forwarded to the Children in Need charity. We spent some time reflecting on the needs of others and keeping the ‘children in need’ in our prayers.
Warm Regards
From EYFS Nursery Team
