Oak Class were very fortunate this week to have Fr John visit our class and talk to us about Lent.
At first, Fr John asked the children if they had given up something for Lent or decided to do something.
The children in Oak Class were eager to share their Lenten Promises with Fr John. He asked them how it felt making a Promise and whether it was easy to keep a promise throughout Lent. Some children were very honest and said that they were finding it hard to keep their Promise. Fr John then explained that Jesus must have found it hard to live for forty days and forty nights in the dessert, especially as He was tempted by the Devil.
To end our time with Fr John, he taught us a simple prayer that we could say at the beginning of the Day and at the end of the day:
Thank you Father for everything you give us.
Thank you for my family and the gifts that I receive.
Amen
