On Monday, 2nd December, we came together as a school community to celebrate the advent season, following the first Sunday of Advent. It was a wonderful occasion where we took a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this time of year and what it signifies for us.
Our assembly began with the inspiring story of Creation, reminding us of the moment when light came into the world. As we listened, we lit the lights on our Christmas tree, symbolising the hope and warmth that this season brings.
Next up was our pupil chaplaincy team, who brought the tree to life with thoughtful decorations. The silver ornaments represented life without sin, while the red reminded us of His passion and death. The green brought to mind the hope His resurrection offers, and the gold spoke of His great love for us all. Each colour contributes to the overall message of Advent, making our tree a beautiful reflection of the season.
We also took time to acknowledge the significance of the Advent wreath and its evergreen leaves, symbolising eternal life. As we prayed together, we asked God to help us prepare for the arrival of Jesus, urging us to shine brightly like the lights on our tree.
To round off our Celebration of the Word we joined in singing the uplifting hymn, “This Little Light of Mine”. It was a joyous reminder of our shared mission to shine our light in the world, particularly in this season of giving and hope.
