This week in Year 6 we were lucky to have a visit from a top athlete – Steve Frew. Steve led a sponsored fitness circuit with our children and you can see how much enthusiasm they had from our “action” shots! He followed up the activities with a wonderful inspirational assembly and answered lots of questions from the children at the end. It was a fantastic highlight to our week.
In addition to this, the children have been working hard writing their biography on Jane Goodall – a pioneer in the field of “Ethology” and who was instrumental in changing attitudes towards the natural world. Next week, we would like the children to select their own hero to research and write about. In Science, we continued our work on classification by wondering about what experiment we could devise in order to see how mould grows on bread. We will bring you more details soon.
Finally, we kicked off “Black History month” in assembly on Friday morning and we look forward to sharing their work on this next week. I wonder if any children will use this morning’s assembly as inspiration for their “hero”?
We wish you all a peaceful weekend,
The Year 6 Team
