Today we started preparing for Christmas by decorating a hoop to hang in the school dining hall. We chose the theme of angels and stars to reflect the celebration of the nativity. The children enjoyed re-creating the angelic host which sang above the hills of Bethlehem to the astonished shepherds in the fields below. Another highlight of the week was our dramatic re-telling of Michael Morpurgo’s story, ‘Coming Home’. The story centres around a brave robin’s perilous journey home to reach his loved ones in time for Christmas. The children used expression in re-telling the story and thought about their verbal delivery in terms of tone, intonation and the clarity of their voice. They added musical instruments to enhance the dramatic effect of their storytelling too and really enjoyed doing so!
