This week Year 6 have taken part in a range of activities related to anti-bullying week, including the fabulous odd socks day! It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to express themselves and to celebrate their individuality. The theme was “Choose Respect” and as part of that all the children wrote uplifting comments for each other; they shared what they liked and admired about each of their classmates. They remembered that respect is about showing that we value each other—our feelings, ideas, and opinions—even when we don’t agree. Each child created a design on a jigsaw which fitted together to demonstrate this theme. We remembered that it is important to treat everyone fairly and with kindness, no matter who they are. Inspired by all our work, Alice from Lime Class, created a wonderful poster with a fantastic message: “Labels are for food not people!” which you can see in the photos. Furthermore, the piece of collaborative art that Year 6 created earlier this term based on our book, “My Life with the Chimpanzees” by Jane Goodall, fully demonstrates how we are all different and yet when we come together we create something wonderful. We look forward to our Squabble Squashers leading the assembly on Monday to update us on what else has been happening around the school.
