This week has been a week of deep contemplation but also high energy as we took part in the circuit training delivered by visiting sportsman Steve Frew, a former gymnast who represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games three times. It was good fun and all the children had a wonderful time! Later in the week we prayed the Rosary and thought deeply about the significance of Mary in the Gospel, as the Mother of Christ. In addition, we gathered in class for prayer and reflection during our weekly Prayer and Liturgy session which was beautifully organised by two of the children. They made their focus the story of Elijah which coincides with our new R.E. topic ‘Chosen’ where we explore how God has called the prophets and the saints to guide and inspire humanity.
The circuit session with Steve Frew was exhausting but it was also good fun and many children are now seeking to raise sponsor money for school equipment as a result of their exertions. In our English lessons we’ve also started a new unit based on the book ‘Leon and the Place Between’. We did a freeze frame activity this week where we recreated the expressions of the main characters both before and after seeing the magic of the amazing circus they visited. Finally we ended the week focussed on praying the Rosary, reciting the Our Father, Hail Mary, the Glory be and the Fatima Prayer. Watching Mark Ten mission helped us a lot with our praying of the Rosary.
