At the beginning of the week, the children had the opportunity to participate in an Anti-Racism workshop. They took part in a variety of role-play activities and thought about how important it is to celebrate individual differences.
After the workshop, the children shared their responses in class:
“Stand out for the people who can’t! Speak up!” Alexandra
“Always let others join in.” Emma
“You can learn about different people and cultures that you might not understand.” James
“Equality means being fair to everyone.” Katherine
“I learned how to be anti-racist.” Declan
“I learned that it doesn’t matter what skin colour you have, you should all be treated the same.” Marco
We have also been learning about Epiphany this week. We thought about what the gifts represented that the wise men gave to Jesus. Gold was given to show that Jesus was a king, frankincense showed that he was God’s son and myrrh showed that he was human. We created some beautiful artwork to remember the visit of the wise men to Jesus.
