Green fingers
At last we’re beginning to see the results of our growing efforts. The sunflower, lettuce, cress and tomato seeds that we planted a few weeks ago have grown well. Soon they will be ready to plant outside, where we hope they will grow into mature plants that will bear flowers and fruits. In science this week we set up an experiment to discover what seeds need in order to germinate. We planted runner bean seeds and left some without light, some without water , some without soil and some without warmth. We’re looking forwards to the results of our investigation.
Ball Skills
In P.E. this week, year 2 have been developing their ball skills. The children had lots of fun playing games and improving their catching, throwing and ball control skills.
Outdoor learning
We continued the theme of clay modelling in the outdoor learning lessons we did this week. We based our clay models on things that we can find in nature, such as plants and animals. The children made some lovely models of butterflies, deer, cats, snails, cats and frogs.
Maths
In maths we have been learning about division using concepts of sharing and grouping.
