This week, we have had lots to report in music. Starting with our youngest, Reception have rewritten the words to the traditional song, Aiken Drum. Our new, updated version has a pumpkin head, carrot hair, a cake for his belly, cheese arms and feet made of bananas!! Doesn’t he look fabulous!
Year 2 have been choosing instruments to make a short composition that sounds like water, based on Camille Saint-Sans Aquarium music. They organised themselves in to groups and decided how they would structure their composition. There were some fantastic performances led by some very good conductors!
Year 5 finished their work composing a soundtrack for some David Attenborough footage – you can see one of the finished versions here. They chose appropriate instruments and worked together as a group to tell the story through music.
And finally, we had our Autumn Concert on Tuesday evening, featuring our Orchestra and choir. They performed to a huge audience of parents and staff. It was incredible. The children have worked so hard and performed their pieces brilliantly and we even had some of our old Y6 pupils return to perform. It was a very proud moment! Well done to all those involved.
